IS COMPETITIVE CREW FOR YOU? To be considered for NRR's Fall or Spring competitive crew you must first: . . . be a High School student between the ages of 14 and 18
. . . scull at an intermediate level or above. [completed at least one 8-day NRR intermediate youth summer program or rowed in a previous NRR competitive youth crew season or competed for another club or high school.]
. . . be committed to attend all practices, improve your rowing, and contribute fully to the success of your boat.

NRR Youth Competitive Rowers are divided into 2 teams: a travel team that trains for and competes in out-of-town regattas and a development team that works on building skill and power for competion in the future.

We’re starting earlier - This year's NRR Competitive Spring Youth Program will run from Sunday, March 18 (water tryout day) through Sunday, May 26 - the day of NRR Spring Sprints. See Key Dates to Remember

We’re changing days and times of afterschool practices - Travel Team practices Monday and Friday, 4:30- 6 pm; Development Team on Tuesday and Thursday, 4:30 - 6 pm. Both teams practice on Saturdays and Sundays. See Practice Schedule

We’re entering different out-of-town races - ones with more sculling events than some of the races we’ve gone to in the past, and more opportunities for novice rowers to compete. See Race Schedule.

We’re asking that all rowers own team unisuits, and for those who don't have them already to purchase them by Monday, March 25 (so they'll arrive by our first race day). How to Order

2012 Spring Crew Tryouts Tryouts determine who makes the travel team. All rowers participate in them.
Sunday, Feb 26, 2012 - 2K Erg Test as part of Navesink Indoor Rowing's Two River Erg Challenge. Results will be used as Spring Crew 2K Test scores for youth who can attend. Get details at NIR website. Download forms and sign up. There is a $20 fee.
Make-Up 2K - Youth who cannot take their erg test on February 26 can arrange a make-up test by contacting Coach John Crilly at navesinkindoorrowing@gmail.com or 732-915-1935. Makeup Erg tests must be completed by March 15.
Re-Test - If you do poorly at the ERG challenge and want to try to get a better score, you can arrange a re-test by contacting Coach Crilly. The deadline is still March 15.
Sunday, March 18 - Water Tryouts if weather permits; if not, then tryouts will be Saturday, March 23. You will be given a specific time to come down to NRR for your water tryout.

HOW TO ORDER AN NRR UNISUIT
Beginning in 2012, we are asking that all Spring and Fall Youth Crew rowers own an NRR unisuit. Rowers who do not already own one can order theirs online. Here’s how:
- Go to www.power10sports.com.
- Select: Navesink River Rowing;
- Enter: NRR (all caps);
- Find and follow steps to order: NRR Men’s Unisuit or NRR Women’s Unisuit.
- include special instructions (in the box provided): “items are needed by April 18.”
- Do this by Monday, March 25 to receive your unisuit in time for the first race.
